The Horticultural Technology Innovation Center in Hall 4 is a forum where trade visitors can expand their knowledge of current and future-oriented topics such as sustainability, gate reduction, automation and energy. The forum will take place on all days of the trade fair and will be accompanied by an exciting supporting program.

Challenges facing the industry
The supporting program shows innovative solutions for potential challenges within the industry and presents products and projects that could improve the future of horticultural technology in a sustainable and future-oriented way. Trade visitors are invited to attend the opening event today from 10:30 to 11:30 am. It is entitled "NRW grows beyond itself - garden shows: The green booster for the life of tomorrow". The kick-off event will be organized by: Annette Nothnagel (LAGA), Jan Sommer (LAGA), Dr. Achim Schlömer (Deutsche Bundesgartenschau-Gesellschaft), Jochen Sander (Deutsche Bundesgartenschau-Gesellschaft), Horst Fischer (IGA Metropole Ruhr 2027), Eva Kähler-Theuerkauf (Landesverband Gartenbau Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V.) and Hans-Christian Eckhardt (Verband Garten-, Landschaft- und Sportplatzbau Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V.).
The supporting program
At 3 p.m., speakers Luisa Pizzini and David Weinrich from Hochschule Geisenheim University will start their presentations on the topic of sustainability in private gardens: measuring and improving using an app. At 3:30 p.m., Yusuf Evren Dogan from Yalova University will present the latest findings from methodological research to determine quality classes based on European quality standards for outdoor design plants. At 4 p.m., the trade audience can expect another highlight when Rosario Sommer from Generosa presents the SEAWEED2PLANT project. At 4:30 pm, Kai Helfersdorfer from AVEMA will follow with his presentation "AVEMA ODP-N organic fertilizer - the development of fertilizer from a single source".
Innovative research on display
At the same time, Hochschule Geisenheim University will be exhibiting its innovative research results in Hall 4 B13.3 on all days. These include the CititDigiSpace project, which aims to improve sustainability in private gardens, and the Geosensys project, which is a geo-referenced and sensor-based tool for the combined management of nitrogen fertilization and irrigation. In addition, the WinUM 2.0 project aims to develop teaching materials that demonstrate the consequences of climate change using the example of grapevines. As an innovative plant protection product, speakers from the Institute of Phytomedicine at Geisenheim University will discuss the use of natural microbial antagonists of pathogens. More in-depth details will be presented in the lectures at Hochschule Geisenheim University on Tuesday at 3 pm, Wednesday at 11 am and Thursday at 11:30 am.
